‘n Omgewingsimpakstudie is onlangs goedgekeur wat die verbouing van ‘n bykomende 450ha toelaat wat aan die volgende lande toegeken is:

A: 110ha (voorheen onder spilpuntbesproeiing met ‘n lang, smal gedeelte langs die R62 wat perfek geskik is vir hoëwaarde-vrugteboorde)
B: 125ha (Goed gedreineerde sanderige grond, voorheen onder spilpuntbesproeiing)
C: 135ha (ideaal vir droëlandgewasse)
D: 80ha (langs dam)

A top farm with huge potential and opportunities. The frost and hail free microclimate and well drained soils makes the farm well suited for various crops such as berries, stone fruit, pome fruit, kiwis, passion fruit, vegetables and grain.

Ample spring water is available from the mountain resulting in the ~135 000m³ dam overflowing every day of the year. The dam is at an elevation of up to 120m above Northern fields which can be irrigated with gravity (no pumps required and no irrigation problems during load shedding). Water can be extracted from a 4.7km, 200mm water pipeline from the dam. The farm is also situated next to the Krom River with two weirs for possible extraction.

The system constantly monitors pH, EC and flow rates. Existing net and irrigation infrastructure allows for plant replacement to other replacement crops should the need arise, such as kiwis and cherry plums.

The untouched spring water is exceptionally clean and a perfect source for a water bottling operation.

Due to the exceptional richness in species and biodiversity value on the farm, ECPTA supports and approved an application to declare parts of the farm as private nature reserve, protected environment, or biodiversity stewardship site.

From a developmental perspective a portion of the farm is zoned for 100 residential units.
